This bag is made of leather made from cactus leaves.

Even overseas we found ‘green trash’. We discovered Mexico’s best kept secret ever! Years ago, 2 Mexican guys came up with the idea of using the Nopal cactus as raw material for the development of a sustainable alternative for animal and synthetic leather.

Nopal doesn’t need any water to grow. And there are plenty of these plants throughout Mexico. Nopal is used for the treatment of diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity and hangovers, but also as a food. The leafs of this plant have always been thrown away, but now they are used to make cactus leather. Produced without the intensive use of water and without any toxic chemicals, phthalates or PVC.

A part of the proceeds of the bucketbag will go to the foundation of her choice: FREE A GIRL, founded by her sister Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen. Free a girl strives for a world without sexual exploitation of children. A goal that Trashious also fully supports.

Het verhaal van Trashious begint bij de afvalbak. Niet de beste start voor een fashion label zou je denken... Integendeel! De wereldwijde afvalberg is een enorm probleem waar het label zich maar al te goed bewust van is. Daarom hebben ze zich aangesloten bij de zero-waste beweging. Ze zijn de zoektocht gestart naar een duurzaam, diervriendelijk en circulair alternatief voor het huidige dierlijke én synthetische leer. Hiervoor vonden zij 'groen' afval, van bijvoorbeeld appels, cactussen en ananassen! 

Eerlijk geproduceerd: de tassen van Trashious worden gemaakt in Bulgarijë. Elk jaar wordt deze fabriek door een derde partij gecontroleerd op de omstandigheden en financiën. Trashious heeft de locatie ook zelf bezocht en kan bevestigen dat hier eerlijk geproduceerd wordt.

Milieuvriendelijk: de tassen worden gemaakt van een vegan plastic-vrij alternatief voor leer. Van innovatieve bio-materialen zoals Piñatex (ananasleer), appelleer, wijnleer, cactusleer, vegea en desserto. Wil je meer weten over deze materialen? Kijk dan hier op de website!

Lokaal geproduceerd: de items worden in Bulgarije, binnen Europa geproduceerd. 

Veganistisch: de items zijn volledig veganistisch door de innovatieve alternatieven voor leer die worden gebruikt.
