Fifth Origins maakt prachtige capes en accessoires van natuurlijke materialen in India. Ze streven ernaar elke stap in de keten duurzaam en ethisch te maken. Ze beloven geen perfectie, maar wel integriteit. En ze hopen dat de producten ervoor zorgen dat zowel de makers als de dragers zich bewust, veerkrachtig en mooi voelen.
Eerlijk geproduceerd: Het label werkt samen met ambachtslieden uit afgelegen Indiase dorpen om alle items met de hand te maken. Deze ambachtslieden krijgen een eerlijk loon, werken onder fijne werkomstandigheden en zijn flexibel in het inplannen van hun uren. Dit laatste is ook fijn voor vrouwen die naast het werk zorg dragen voor kinderen en hun familie, of voor de ambachtslieden die daarnaast op het land werken.
Milieuvriendelijk: Fifth Origins werkt met natuurlijk en duurzaam wol, hennep, katoen en brandnetel. Brandnetel is een duurzaam, natuurlijk en innovatief materiaal waar textielvezels van gemaakt kunnen worden. De wol komt van schapenherders in Himachal Pradesh, een ethische en gecertificeerde bron.
Steunt de lokale bevolking: Fifth Origins heeft onlangs samen gewerkt met hun ambachtslieden om een kinderdagverblijf in te richten voor de kinderen van de vrouwelijke ambachtslieden. Het label vindt het erg belangrijk om hun gemeenschap te kunnen steunen waar nodig en om vrouwen sterker en onafhankelijker te maken: ook vrouwen van een minder geprivilegieerde afkomst in India.
